Let’s talk about fragrance people.
Here are some cold hard facts about how bad the one word FRAGRANCE can be…
Fragrances added to many cleaners, most notably laundry detergents and fabric softeners, may cause acute effects such as respiratory irritation, headache, sneezing, and watery eyes in sensitive individuals or allergy and asthma sufferers. The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has found that one-third of the substances used in the fragrance industry are toxic. But because the chemical formulas of fragrances are considered trade secrets, companies aren’t required to list their ingredients but merely label them as containing “fragrance.”
The word fragrance: In the U.S., manufacturers can legally hide hundreds of synthetic chemicals in the one word—“fragrance”—without revealing what those ingredients are!!!!! How is this legal?
It’s referred to as a “trade secret” in the industry. But really, it’s simply a loophole that is as big as Texas! This excuse to not label fragrance ingredients was initiated in an era when the major fragrance houses lobbied to protect their secret formulas made from flowers and oils. But those days are long gone. What the government is protecting now are manufacturers who have a license to poison the American public with more than 3,000 chemicals that are being absorbed, inhaled, and ingested daily.
So, please do yourself a favor: Read your ingredients. Please stop using popular fabric softeners that keep your clothes fresh smelling for 7 weeks…. Why do we need this? You wonder why so many children and Adults have breathing problems and sudden allergy attacks, well there you have it!
This brings up why I decided to make the switch myself, I was SICK all the time! I want to enjoy my life, not be sick in bed with nice smelling sheets!
